Welcome to the web pages of Upper Secondary School of Chemistry Pardubice.
SPSCH Pardubice is a secondary technical school that has taught chemistry for over 70 years and, in recent years, has also added studies such as fire protection, law enforcement, and hairdressing. The school, located in the town of Pardubice, is an educational institution of trans-regional importance; the students come from the Pardubice region and the neighbouring regions. The school provides education for over 1,000 students aged 15–19 or older.
The graduates get a certificate of secondary education (after a four-year study) or a certificate of vocational education (after a three-year study). The school is a government-funded state school providing full-time education free of charge. Students are provided with both general and specialized training.
Four-year study fields
The oldest field of study is Applied Chemistry. Students can choose one of the following specializations: Analytical Chemistry, Chemical-pharmaceutical Production, Analysis of Chemical and Biological Materials, and Forensic Technology and Expertise. They work in modern school laboratories.
In the second study field, Fire Protection, students get the knowledge of fire protection, fire prevention, and skills necessary for an occupation in fire rescue services; as well as in fire protection units. Students get a lot of practical training to be prepared for their future occupations. The school is well-equipped for this study discipline.
The third study field is law enforcement. In this field, students gain the necessary knowledge of law and criminology: they undergo security training, shooting training, and self-defence training. The graduates are able to work with police, municipal police, or security agencies.
Three-year vocational disciplines
The vocational three-year disciplines are Hairdressing and Chemist. Our hairdressers represent the school in national and international competitions. The school has three hairdressing salons and in one of them we take care of our customers from the public. Chemists have practical training in school laboratories.
Two-year study fields
The school also offers a two-year follow-up study (Security Services and Hair Cosmetics) for vocational education graduates. The last study field is a two-year combined study (Chemist Operator) for those who have already started their work career and need to extend their qualification.
School facilities
Students use modern classrooms equipped with interactive boards or data-projectors. The school also includes a school library, a gym, a fitness centre, a school playground, and a cafeteria. For practical training there is a laser shooting range and a criminology lab, a fire training tower, modern chemical laboratories and hairdressing and beauty salons.
School life and after-school activities
The school organizes excursions, winter and summer outdoor courses, sports days, sport tournaments, as well as open days for the public and many activities for primary school children. The school is promoted at exhibitions and science festivals. Students can attend several after-school courses. Many students take part in competitions and Olympiads. Also, they organize their graduation balls and are active and work in the Students´ Parliament.
International cooperation
Students and staff are active participants in Erasmus+ projects. Many students take part in practical training abroad. The school is active in international projects that involve the development of teaching and learning methodologies, and it cooperates with schools in Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Cyprus, and other European countries.
