Project summary

The interest in security professions has been growing in recent years and often requires international cooperation. Nevertheless, the methods and conditions for training security professionals vary considerably between EU countries, e.g. different qualifications and measures for professionalisation of teachers, teaching facilities, standard of digital equipment for students, curricula, didactic and methodological approaches, length of classes and practice, different age of students and requirements for candidates.

The aim of this small-scale project is to develop cooperation between the project’s partner schools, to identify the required graduate profile in the partner countries and to adapt it if necessary. The output of the project will be the development of a digital module for security studies. In the long term, the outputs of this project could be used to develop a European curriculum for security VET.

Kick-off meeting, 7-9 December 2022 – Essen, Germany

In December, a couple of teachers of security and legal subjects attended the first EUMOSS project partners‘ meeting. The schoolsinvolved were able to meet in person and discussthe project’s objectives. The meeting included an introduction of the participating schools and the security disciplinesthey teach. The common theme for which the partners will create a digital learning module is cybercrime. This is a topic that is rapidly gaining in importance and to which little time is devoted in teaching, partly due to the lack of supporting materials for teaching.

The second day was followed by a tour of the Thysen-Krupp Essen factory site from the perspective of the security controls in place. The company is one of the largest employers in the region and many of the pupils of the Berufskolleg West der Stadt Essen do their apprenticeships here.

The next meeting will take place in Pardubice in mid-March 2023.

EUMOSS project partners` meeting in Pardubice

On March 14th–16th, 2023, our school welcomed the EUMOSS project partners to its 2nd international project meeting. An important goal of this project is to develop a teaching module for the security courses taught in the partner schools. At the previous meeting in Essen, Germany, Cybercrime and Security was selected as the topic for the teaching module. Taking into account the needs of the participating schools, the module will teach pupils about acting safely in cyberspace in both their personal and professional lives.

The meeting was introduced by a lecture by a representative of the Regional Police Directorate who deals with cybercrime cases. He presented the different types of crimes in this area and pointed out in particular the cases that are currently occurring most frequently. During the afternoon and the following day, the partners worked on the framework content of the prepared teaching module and the form of its verification and use. In the coming months, we will all work on the content of the tutorial and present it at the next meeting at the end of October in Rotterdam.
